DFA takes football to the communities

The Dominica Football Association (DFA) has taken another bold step in the development of the sport on the island. On Wednesday, the organization charged with the responsibility for developing the sport on the island launched its Grassroots Manual.

DFA’s Grass Root Manual

The document which was prepared by the DFA’s Technical Department was made available to clubs on Wednesday, 27th July 2022 at a brief ceremony at the association’s headquarters at Bath Estate.

The manual is aimed at assisting and providing the know-how for coaches at the grassroots level. It is the first time that the DFA has produced such a manual and it is expected that good use will be made of this manual.

Earlier in the week, the DFA also launched its grassroots football program, which will target over 50 communities around the island. The program will see young boys and girls under the age of 12 learning the sport at the community level. During the launch, equipment needed for the successful implementation of the program was handed over to those individuals who will take charge of the program at the community level.

Meanwhile, all clubs affiliated with the Dominica Football Association are expected to converge at the Patrick John Football House at Bath Estate on Saturday, 30th July 2022. That’s because the DFA will hold its 5th Annual General Meeting, which is also known as the annual congress.

The various club representatives are expected to hear brief remarks from the president, Mr. Glen Etienne. The audited financial statements will also be presented for deliberations.
