WE United FC has picked up its first piece of silverware in competitions organized under the auspices of the Dominica Football Association. On Wednesday evening at the Stockfarm Sports Complex, the Castle Bruce-based club finished in the third position in the 2022 DFA Patrick John Cup.
In the bronze medal match, WE United FC defeated Promex Harlem United by four goals to one on penalty kicks after the encounter ended with one goal all after full time and extra time. Trai Douglas scored for the WE United FC while national player Audel Laville scored for Promex Harlem United. The win on penalty kicks gave WE United FC five goals to two aggregate wins.
National goalkeeper, Raleighson Pascal was adjudged as the player of the game. He walked away with a cash prize of EC$150.
For the win, WE United FC took home a third-place cash prize of EC$5000 as well as a trophy.
Meanwhile, the draw for the President’s Cup will take place this afternoon from 5 pm at the football house at Bath Estate. The second cup of the season is expected to commence this weekend.
