Assistant General Secretary of Team Unity Dominica (TUD) Carlos Charles has disclosed that his party has taken a decision that they will contest the December 6, 2022, General Elections in Dominica.
He made that announcement at a press conference of the party on November 16, 2022.
Dominica, he says has always been a “democratic society” and in the spirit of democracy, Team Unity Dominica (TUD) announces its decision to “contest December 6, 2022, general elections.”
He stated that Dominicans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision to call “snap elections” and have chosen to “abstain from the polls.
“We understand the need for electoral reform but clearly, if we do not unite, in this fight against this imposing incumbency, we will continue to fight to utilize failed tactics and strategies which do very little to unity. Now is the time not to revolt through violence, but by casting your vote in unity,” he said.
Questioned about the leadership of the party and how many seats they intended to contest, Charles said that all that will be disclosed after Nomination Day November 18, 2022. He also denied suggestions that his party was being funded by internal forces within the ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) or otherwise.
