Breaking News-Thea Lafond Gadson cops gold for Dominica at Paris Olympics

Thea Lafond Gadson has coped a gold medal for Dominica at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Competing in the Triple Jump she recorded a jump of 15:02 meters and collected a gold medal for Dominica.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit hailed her achievement as “huge”. “We owe her a huge debt of gratitude…we need to celebrate this event and we will ensure that we celebrate it,” he said.

After the results were announced, Lafond-Gadson broke down in tears as she hugged her trainer and husband who has been a strength and motivation for her over the years.

He also congratulated President of the Dominica Olympics Committee (DOC) Billy Doctrove who he said came to him and asked for the necessary help for her. “He took her under his wings and she persevered, she has worked hard and this is indeed a motivation for other young Dominicans,” Skerrit said.
