The police have confirmed to Nature Isle News (NIN) a motor vehicular accident on the Grand Bay road that claimed the life of a toddler.
According to information from the police, the accident occurred near the Grand Bay Secondary School, where a vehicle plunged off the road.
“About 8:50 am on Monday, August 26, 2024, Linda Alinda Alexander of Grand Bay was driving her black Mazda Demeio car down the hill on the public road in an area called Carpesh above the Pierre Charles Secondary accompanied by her two children, a four-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy and a female adult of Grand Bay when the driver (Alexander) lost control of the vehicle,” the police stated.
He continued, ” The vehicle then went off the road and plunged at the Pierre Charles Secondary School, the front of the car was extensively damaged. All the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Grand Bay Health Center where the six-year-old boy was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor.”
“The three other occupants of the car were then transferred to the DCFH for further medical attention,” Police PRO Fixton Henderson stated. He also sympathized with the family on behalf of the police and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
It has been confirmed that three other passengers were involved in the crash and have all been transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) for treatment. The condition of these individuals is currently unknown.
