Dr. Thomson Fontaine has successfully defended his position as leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) after he soundly defeated his only rival Senator Delbert Paris by 60 votes.
The UWP held its delegates Conference in Castle Bruce on Sunday, December 15, 2024, and Fontaine received 125 votes while his only challenger, Delbert Paris got 65 votes.
Paris was however able to narrowly defeat former Deputy leader Ronald Charles by 5 votes (97 to 82) for the post of Deputy Political Leader of the party.
The results for the other executive positions are:
President – Lennox Linton who won over Isaac Baptiste, 124 votes – 58
Vice President – Ronald Charles beat Hector John 93 – 82.
General Secretary – Nicolas George who, got elected unopposed.
Asst. Secretary – Diane Victor
PRO – Shirley Sabroache beat the incumbent Steve Benjamin 82 – 53. The other nominee was Loftus Durand who got 35 votes.
Treasurer – Kent Joseph
Asst. Treasurer – Ezekiel Bazil
International Secretary – Dr. McDonald Thomas
Trustees – Edison James, Norris Prevost, Ernie Jno-Finn
