The law firm of HAJ Chambers led by Joshua Francis and assisted by his junior Destiny Pascal has been successful in an application before the court to “vary the bail conditions of murder accused Chasrey Thomas.
ChasreyThomas and his brother Garry Thomas have been charged with the September 26, 2021 murder of Stalkly Antoine of Petite Savanne.
It is alleged that on, that day (September 26, 2021) at Ravine Shall, Petite Savanne, Antonie received fatal stab wounds to his body allegedly inflicted by Garry and Chasrey Thomas.
The application by Francis to vary the bail conditions was not opposed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple.
In court documents filed, Francis avers that his client has fully followed “all conditions set out in the bail Order dated October 21, 2021.”
His client he stated is “a first-time offender and at a productive age and has the confidence and support of his two sureties who are willing to continue to act as sureties for his bail if varied by the Court.”
Justice Colin Williams granted the bail variation until the arraignment of the accused at the High Court for $150,000.00. He will continue to report to the Grand Bay Police Station twice a week, be of continued good behaviour while on bail, and stay away from all prosecution witnesses in the matter.
