With this extraordinary achievement, LaFond becomes Dominica’s first-ever female medalist at a World Outdoor Championships and only the second Dominican athlete to earn a medal on this stage, following Jerome Romain’s bronze medal in the men’s triple jump 30 years ago in Gothenburg, Sweden.
