Roseau, Dominica – September 2025 – The urology specialist Dr. Deng Nan from the 7th Chinese (Guangdong) Medical Team to Dominica successfully conducted the first laparoscopic simulation training session at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital.
This pioneering program, made possible by two laparoscopic simulators donated by Guangzhou Medical University, marks a significant breakthrough in laparoscopic surgical training led by the Chinese medical aid team in Dominica.
The training attracted strong interest from local doctors. Originally scheduled for two hours, the session was extended as more participants joined for hands-on practice. Under expert guidance, attendees actively practiced basic techniques and asked questions, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
This inaugural training represents a significant step forward in surgical education for Dominica. Participants expressed that mastering laparoscopic skills will enhance local surgical capabilities and offer patients more minimally invasive treatment options.
The initiative reflects the China Medical Team’s commitment to knowledge sharing and strengthens the role of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital as a regional training hub. The team plans to continue regular laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery training sessions in the future, empowering local doctors and bringing advanced medical care to more patients.
