
Basseterre, Saint Kitts, March 19, 2026 – Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has reaffirmed the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to regional solidarity, announcing that the Federation will soon make a significant humanitarian contribution to Cuba as part of a coordinated regional effort.
Speaking during his appearance on Freedom FM’s Issues programme on March 17, Prime Minister Drew highlighted the importance of collective action within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), particularly in times of need.
“The Cuba matter, I want to say that CARICOM was here, and we took the decision to support Cuba from a humanitarian standpoint,” the Prime Minister stated.
Dr. Drew revealed that the Federation has already put the necessary framework in place in collaboration with regional and international partners and is now preparing to act.
“…Working with the Mexicans, we have put the framework in place and St. Kitts… within the next two weeks, will be doing its first major contribution from a humanitarian standpoint, to Cuba,” he added.
The Prime Minister underscored that this initiative reflects St. Kitts and Nevis’ longstanding commitment to humanitarian values, regional cooperation, and mutual support among Caribbean nations.
He further emphasized that the Government continues to maintain strong and ethical partnerships with Cuban professionals working in the Federation, noting that appropriate systems are in place to ensure transparency and compliance with international standards.
