Police are investigating what they claim is a case of “a suspected homicide in the town of Portsmouth.”
According to a release from the police, “Sixty-seven (67)- year-old Alcid Simon of Portsmouth was transported via ambulance from the Reginald Fitzroy Armour Hospital to the A&E Department of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital ( DCFH) on the evening of Saturday 25th July, 2026, after complaining of being beaten in Portsmouth sometime on Friday 24th July 2026.
“Later that same Saturday evening, Alcid Simon was examined and pronounced dead at the DCFH by a doctor. His body was taken to a funeral home pending an autopsy,” the police stated.
“The CDPF investigates the circumstances surrounding the death of Alcid Simon. Anyone with information relating to Simon’s death is asked to contact the Portsmouth Police Station at 266 4654 or the Criminal Investigations Department at 266 5165 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or any police station. The CDPF extends condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.”
