L’Express des Iles resumes service to Dominica on August 7

Inter-island ferry L’Express des Iles has announced that it will resume services to Dominica on August 7.

In a brief statement to costumers on Wednesday, the French company said the service will be open to all passport holders and will be subject to government approval from Dominica and France.

Based on the statement, service will be only between Dominica and the French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe.

The company released the following itinerary:

– Departure from Pointe à Pitre to Dominica on Mondays, and Fridays at 8:00 a.m.
– Departure from Fort de France to Dominica on Mondays and Fridays at 2 p.m.
– Departure from Dominica to Pointe à Pitre on Mondays and Fridays at 4.15 p.m.
– Departure from Dominica to Fort de France on Mondays and Fridays at 11:00 a.m.

L’Express des Iles suspended all services on March 17 when French President Emanuel Macron declared the closure of France’s borders to the European Union and the Schengen area due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Initially, the closure was for 30 days but was extended as the pandemic worsened and various countries tightened restrictions on travel.

Many countries have “flattened the curve” on the Corona virus pandemic and are slowly easing restrictions.
