Effective September 1, 2020, a new person is now at the helm of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF), that’s because Daniel Carbon, the Chief of Police is on leave.
Lincon Corbette the deputy Chief of Police is now acting chief until September 2021 with Davidson Valerie the acting deputy chief.
“I just wish to thank Almighty God for his blessings because without him nothing is possible. I want to thank my immediate and extended family and the rank and file of the CDPF for supporting me during my tenure as deputy, I know that they were fully behind me and I have no doubt that they will again give me their fullest support as acting chief of police,” Corbette stated.
“I want to also thank the Prime Minister for entrusting me at this time with the leadership of the Police force, we are in the COVID period and in the peak of the hurricane season so leading the force at this time will be a challenge.”
He says that while it is a challenge he sees it as a continuation of his duties. “But I see it as a continuation of what I have been doing to improve the morals and motivate the officers,”
For Valerie, it is not the first time holding the posting of acting deputy chief. “It is not the first time holding that post, I am thankful to God and the powers that be for allowing me to act. It involves the day to day operations and a tremendous duty. I look forward to working with the rank and file of the CDPF and to bring the results that the public wants of us,” Valerie stated.
