One man is dead in a weekend road traffic accident which took place on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Pond Casse and the police are also investigating two other road traffic accidents which has left vehicles extensively damaged.
According to a report from the police, at about 20:30 hours Anton Joseph of Grand Fond was driving his Toyota bus # HE718 in an easterly direction when the bus collided with an object he was not able to identify at the time.
Joseph, police said, stopped his vehicle, and disembarked and searched the area and discovered the body of a male individual lying in the drain. The victim was transported to the Dominica China Friendship hospital where he was medically examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
The police said that the body was identified as that of 54-year-old Elouis Augustus Durand of Good Hope. The body is now at the Lyndhurst Funeral Home in Canefield awaiting a post mortem examination. Police are continuing their investigations in the matter.
Meantime, the police are also investigating two road traffic accidents on Sunday, September 27, 2020. According to reports, the first occurred in Pond Casse in a two-vehicle collision and the other outside the Parliament building in Roseau. No reports of death as investigations continue in these matters.
