Grand Bay resident and former school principal of the Pierre Charles Secondary School (PCSC), James Alexander has died. Alexander died on August 14, 2021, at Dominica China Friendship Hospital. He was 73.
He also served as the Secretary of the Co-operative Societies League and Second Vice President of the National Youth Council was a businessman and also twice contested general elections on a United Workers Party (UWP) ticket.
Parliamentary representative for the Grand Bay constituency Edward Registe describes the late James Alexander as “a community man.”
According to Registe, he had the pleasure of serving with him on Credit Union boards. “He was also involved in culture…was a community man and was a teacher who made a great contribution to the community over many years,” he said.
Alexander was educated at the Tete Morne Government School and the St. Mary’s Academy (SMA). He later attended the Dominica Teachers College, The University of the West Indies (UWI), and the Guyana School of Agriculture.
He was the holder of a Bachelor of Education Degree with honours in Educational Administration, a Diploma in Agriculture, and a Certificate in Management and Supervision.
