The police have confirmed the death of 44-year-old David “Benji” Benjamin of Loubiere who resided in Pointe Michel.
According to the police, Benjamin was a passenger on a blue Mitsubishi RVR #PA3136 owned and driven by Darren Gage of Newtown also residing in Pointe Michel.
The vehicle was traveling from Scotts Head with five passengers and according to police, the driver appeared to have misjudged a bypass driving from Scotts Head and collided with a concrete embankment on the western side of the road.
The accident happened on December 25, 2024, at around 9 am. They were all taken to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) and Benjamin was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at about 11:30 am
The driver is said to have escaped with minor injuries while three others received serious injuries and have been admitted at the DCFH. Police are continuing investigations into the fatal road accident.
