Director of Public Prosecutions Sherma Dalrymple has filed a discontinuance notice in a matter involving former customs officer Garneth Jolly.
This matter dates back to July 2013 when Jolly along with three other men were arrested and charged with possession of 30,000 grams of cocaine and possession with intent to supply said cocaine.
They were granted bail by the High Court in the sum of $150,000.00.
Since then, the charges against the other men have been discontinued but Jolly remained the lone man on deck facing charges.
His lawyer Wayne Norde filed a constitutional motion against the DPP and the police but when the matter came up before Justice Thomas Astaphan, the DPP told the court that she was in the process of taking a certain course of action in the matter.
In this regard, Jolly’s lawyer Norde then informed the court his Fixed Date Claim filed will be withdrawn.
Unbelievable!! 10 years!!
Way to go Miss DPP. Keep cleaning up this mess.
