Bruno and Pascal propel Summits to an emphatic win

Nicholas Bruno starred with both bat and ball and national youth player Stephan Pascal hit an unbeaten half-century as they piloted KFC Summits to a massive victory on Sunday in the 2021 Dominica Cricket Association International Trading Group T20 National Cricket League.

The duo contributed significantly as Summits defeated the Police Sports Club by 107 runs at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau.

Summits won the toss and took the first knock and posted 165 for three in the match reduced to 19 overs. Pascal fell short of a century by five runs as he hit a fine unbeaten 95. Bruno supported with 24 and Andy Matthew hit 27.

Bowling for Police Sports Club, Germain Moses took one for 33 and Keron James took one for 19.

Set a victory target of 166, Police Sports Club fell into early trouble and never recovered and was eventually bowled out for 58 in 12.1 overs. Chris Alfred and Keron James with 11 runs apiece were the only batsmen to score double figures.

The chief architect and destroyer of the Police Sports Club batting were Nicholas Bruno who took five for 10 in 3.1 overs of medium pace. Bruno got good support from Jerwin Boston who finished with two for 14. Delaney Alexander, C’Jay Charles, and Kieron Phillip finished with one wicket each.

In another encounter played on Sunday, Jungle Bay Hurricanes scored a big victory as they defeated Nagico Northern Stars by four wickets at the Winsdor Park Sports Stadium.

Stars batted first and scored 119 all out in 19.3 overs. Mickel Riviere with 33 runs and Kevin James with 23 runs were the leading scorers.

Bowling for Hurricanes, Malakai Xavier took two for 16, Marshall Gregoire finished with two for 14 and Felix Etienne bagged two for 17.

In reply, Hurricanes reached 120 for six in 19.2 overs. Malakai Xavier led the way with a fine 60. Xavier was well supported by Terrel Toussaint with 35 runs.

Kevin James took two for 13 and Leon St. Jean claimed two for 29 bowling for Nagico Northern Stars.
