Dominica’s COVID-19 cases increases

Dominica’s National Epidemiologist (Ag) Dr. Shalauddin Ahmed, has confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 as of 11th November 2020.

He made his announcement at the Ministry of Health press briefing on the evening of November 11, 2020.

Dr. Ahmed also went on to explain that all five (5) cases are “asymptomatic with no underlying health issues.”

“Dominica’s total number of confirmed cases is now 68; however, active cases are currently at 27 with six (6) cases having been discharged since the last update,” Dr. Ahmed stated.

According to him, the community health screening which was undertaken by the Ministry of Health was completed for the remaining health districts of “St. Joseph, Portsmouth, La-plaine and Grandbay.”

“A total of eighty (80) community tests were completed with only two (2) being reactive to the test…these two were later confirmed negative with PCR testing,” he said. He explained that they were all randomly selected from the “catchment area and all were very cooperative.”
