President of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) Glen Etienne has made an urgent plea for clubs to complete the registration process if they intend to participate in the 2021 football season.
The DFA boss made the call earlier this week. According to Etienne, quite a few clubs have not completed the process which is required to obtain a license to participate in leagues and competitions organized under the auspices of the DFA for the 2021 season.
“I can tell you that quite a few clubs have not yet completed the process in terms of their certification. The deadline has since gone and we still have a few clubs that have not yet fully complied with the requirements.
“We are about to start with the Nation Cup and we are still awaiting the complete registration of some clubs that will participate in this competition. The clubs must be reminded that if they are not certified, then they can’t play in the league. Therefore, I want to appeal to them to complete the process and gain certification. If the clubs are not certified, they cannot play and this would be hurting the players. We do not want to hurt the players,” he cautioned.
In order for clubs to be certified, they must complete four online forms dealing with infrastructure, finance, youth development, and the general club form. In addition to these four online forms, clubs also need to present to the DFA their legal declaration form, their statutes, their club ownership, and control mechanism form, their budget for the upcoming season as well as their first team list.
The application will be reviewed by the First Instance Body (FIB) and clubs meeting all the criteria will be granted a license.
