Managing Director of J. Astaphan & Co Ltd Geneviene M. Astaphan has responded to Oksana Toulon on the issue of the existence and legal registration of the National Services Workers Union (NSWU) which Toulon purports to have recently been formed and is now representing the staff of J. Astaphan & Co Ltd.
In a letter to Toulon, the Managing Director informed her that they are not aware of the existence or legal registration of the National Servies Workers Union. “Further, management is unaware of any notice for or poll for the recognition as a union at J. Astaphan & Co Ltd as is required by the laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica.”
“J Astaphan & Co Ltd. does not have a collective labour agreement with the National Servies Workers Union, nor is the National Servies Workers Union recognized as the bargaining agent for our employees.”
