Dominica draws first blood against SVG

The Dominica men’s senior national team came from one goal down in the first of two friendly internationals against St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG) to beat them 2-1.

SVG opened the scoring in the third minute of play through Malcolm Stewart but captain Briel Thomas got the equalizer for his team in the 14th minute through a beautiful header.

At halftime, the scores were leveled at 1-1 and both teams made several changes fighting to go in the lead. And when it appeared that the game was heading to a draw, Dominica made it 2-1 in the 87th minute through its overseas-based player Daryl Longdon who blasted a powerful left-footer that cannoned in the back of the net to the delight of the Dominican fans.

The second and final game will be played on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 3 pm at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
