The much talked about Digicel and Rayneau Construction Domino league is nearing its completion. The league which began with over 20 teams, has now reached its round of 16 with the top 16 teams still standing.
After the preliminary round of matches Brigidy Stars, Brutal Forces, Remix, Warriors, Baghdad, Green City, Swansea, Roadblock, Skills, Focus, Golden Arms, One Case, Riviere Cryrique, Sharks, Ale Boys, and Case O’ Gorie all advanced.
Meanwhile, the round of 16 matches will commence this weekend with matches on Saturday and Sunday at select venues around the island. Saturday’s matches will feature, Brigidy Stars versus Brutal Forces, while Remix and Warriors will meet each other. In another encounter, Baghdad will take on Green City. The last encounter on Saturday will feature Swansea and Roadblock.
On Sunday, in one of four matches, Skills will come up against Focus, and the Soufriere-based team Golden Arms will take on One Case. Riviere Cyrique and Sharks will come up against each other. Sunday’s lineup will be completed when Alie Boys take on Case O’ Gorie.
The winners will all advance to the quarter-final round.
Touring Bajans to take on select cricket squad
The Dominica Cricket Association has named 14 players to take on a touring Barbadian A Team in a three-day match at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.
The national select squad comprises graduates of the Dominica Cricket Academy among others. The three–day match, will which will bowl off this Friday, is made up of several players who have represented the island at both senior and youth levels. The unit will be led by the diminutive player, Gian Benjamin.

Former Windward Island Volcanoes assistant coach, Fernix Thomas will be in charge of the squad. Thomas will be assisted by Mervin Thomas, Sam Kirnon, Ray Casimir, and Vincent Lewis who are attached to the Dominica Cricket Academy.
While on the island, the touring team will play a series of matches including two 50-over matches and two T20 matches in addition to the solitary red ball encounter.
All the matches are carded to be contested at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.
