Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton took the oath of office administered by High Court Judge Jacqueline Josiah Graham before a capacity crowd including her family members, members of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Skerrit, and well-wishers.
The 58-year-old former public servant became the first woman to be elected President of Dominica and also the first Kalinago. She replaced Charles Savarin who demitted office on October 1, 2023, after serving two terms in that office.
