PRESS RELEASE
MIAMI (July 30, 2024) – Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit visited U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) today.
He met with U.S. Army Gen. Laura Richardson, commander of SOUTHCOM, and other senior command leaders and staff to discuss security cooperation, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief collaboration, and SOUTHCOM efforts in the region.
Accompanying Skerrit were Dominica’s Minister of National Security Rayburn Blackmoore and Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie.
Dominica is an important Caribbean partner. Cooperation includes security exercises, disaster relief preparation, enhanced maritime domain awareness, and force modernization. Dominica’s forces most recently took part in the SOUTHCOM-led multinational exercise Tradewinds 2024 in Barbados.
SOUTHCOM is one of the nation’s six geographically focused unified commands responsible for U.S. military operations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, as well as security cooperation with the region’s defense and public security forces.
Ah yes, the World Boss whom Mas in the Cemetary told us “cannot go to America.”
