Investigations are ongoing as police try to piece the pieces together into the shooting of the vehicle belonging to banker and calypsonian Narrin “Trendsetter” Murphy at Jimmit.
According to Trendsetter who is also a social media activist, at around 2:45 am he heard what appeared to be “gunshots around his home but did not go out”.
“When it stopped, I peeped through by curtain and when I was sure It was safe I went out, and to my surprise, my vehicle parked in my yard was peppered with bullets,” he said.
Murphy recounted the traumatic experience, noting that “nine bullets had struck his car,” an act he believes was aimed at “instilling fear in him”. However, he emphasized that the attempt to undermine his spirit had the opposite effect.
“I will not be intimidated by the attack…this was a cowardly act that only served to strengthen and make me more resolute, whoever did this has failed and failed miserably,” he stated.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I will fear no evil, no weapon formed, or fashioned can stand against me. You who took that cowardly act to trespass on my property to try to intimidate me, you did not succeed.”
“You have just made me stronger and more resolute…if that was your objective, you have failed.”
He continued, “It is unfortunate, the state we have to be and the pain and anxiety the attack has caused my loved ones, I could have been on my porch. I am not afraid to die, ladies and gentlemen. I have done nothing to hurt or harm anyone. I have simply tried to assist where I have to assist and be a sense of reason where I have to.”
Underscoring his belief in justice, Murphy had a message of caution for the perpetrators of this criminal act.
“Whoever is involved in this, it will eventually catch up with you,” he warned, “Yes, you. It will catch up with you…karma is coming to you.”
