The Board of Governors of the Dominica State College (DSC) notes with concern the industrial action taken by faculty and administrative staff on Monday, February
24, 2025. We acknowledge the concerns raised in a press release and wish to provide the following clarifications.
Salary Negotiations (2023 – 2026)-The Dominica Public Service Union (PSU) was duly
informed of the ongoing job reclassification exercise initiated by the Board in response to staff feedback.
This process requires input from the PSU to ensure fair and effective implementation. The Board cannot act unilaterally on such a critical matter, and discussions must continue in the collaborative and constructive spirit maintained thus far. However, it is important to note that DSC staff salaries are generally aligned with those of secondary school teachers.
The Government of Dominica has invested over $4 million in the refurbishment of the DSC, a project being carried out in phases. Significant progress has been made in the past 12 months, with Blocks A, B, and C fully renovated.

The Government remains committed to completing the process and is currently awaiting cost estimates for the refurbishment of the auditorium and the auto-mechanics room.
The DSC strongly refutes claims of unsanitary washroom conditions or the necessity for
faculty to share facilities with students. There are designated bathroom facilities for lecturers located on the Upper Campus and within the Administrative Wing of the Lower Campus.
Regrettably, such misleading statements were made, as they do not accurately reflect the current conditions. The Board of Governors and DSC Management take the concerns of faculty and staff seriously and remain open to further discussions to resolve outstanding issues. The relationship with the PSU has been professional and respectful, and we reaffirm our commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to foster a fair and positive working environment.
