The Traffic Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigating Department (CID) of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF), is actively investigating a road fatality which occurred on Elliot Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. on August 9, 2025.
According to a police report, the accident involved a 4-door blue Suzuki Swift, registration # TQ 807, owned by Jonah Austrie of Grand Fond, which was being driven at the time by Kacey Cadette, a 21-year-old male from Castle Bruce, and a pedestrian, Heskeith Francis, a 28-year-old male from 28 Elliott Avenue, Pottersville.
“The collision occurred on Elliot Avenue, Pottersville, while the driver of TQ 807 was heading in a northerly direction. The left front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian, knocking him to the ground,” a statement from the police stated.
“The pedestrian was transported via ambulance to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH), where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. The body is at a funeral parlour awaiting a postmortem. Investigation continues into the unfortunate collision. The CDPF expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, Heskeith Francis.”
