Magistrate Marie-Louise Pierre- Louis has imposed a custodial sentence on Ronnell Talbert of Pichelin after he pleaded guilty to having in his possession ammunition and magazines without being the holder of a valid firearm and ammunition license.

Talbert, who was on remand after his arrest and not guilty plea, decided to change his plea to “guilty.”

After hearing the facts of the matter, Magistrate Pierre-Louis reserved her decision for November 27, 2025.

Before sentencing, Talbert told the court that he was “sorry” for his actions and before the court to “have mercy on him.”

His lawyer, Peter Alleyne, in his brief plea in mitigation, also told the court that his client was “remorseful for his actions” and begged for a “non-custodial sentence.”

However, before handing down her decision, Magistrate Pierre-Louis indicated that she would be following the sentencing guidelines for “drugs and firearms offences.”

She also stated that, given the “nature of the offense, which was firearms related and the facts and circumstances, she will not impose a fine but a custodial sentence.”

The society, she stated, had to be protected against the illegal use of persons with illegal firearms and ammunition.

Talbert was sentenced to four (4) years and six months in prison.
