Young boxer Taahir Tyson falls to cancer

The Boxing Association, students of the St. Mary’s Academy (SMA), family friends, and well-wishers are now in mourning following the death of 14-year-old boxer Taahir Tyson, who had been suffering from cancer.

Young Tyson, described by the President of the Dominica Boxing Association (DBA) Job Joseph as “a true fighter,” had been battling the dreaded cancer disease for something breathed his final breath on the evening of March 12, 2026.

“He was a motivator, a true fighter, one who was always inspiring others. He was young but made his mark in the boxing ring in Dominica. We will miss him; he has fought a good fight, but Father Yaweah, who sees and knows everything, has the answer. Rest in peace, Taahir,” Joseph said.

The Dominica Boxing Association recently held a fundraising boxing extravaganza at the Massacre Indoor, seeking public support to help cover the medical expenses of the 14-year-old boxer as he continued his battle with cancer.

Nature Isle News (NIN) extends condolences to the Tyson family, the boxing fraternity in Dominica, and also students and staff of the SMA, where he was also a student.
