Port Officer pleads not guilty to two counts of possession of Cannabis

Port Officer Alistair Bert Riviere-Alfred of Madrelle Loubiere, who was arrested at the Woodbridge Bay Port on Tuesday 18th August 2026, has entered a “not guilty plea” on two charges of “possession of cannabis. Alfred appeared before a Roseau Magistrate, where the charges were read to him. He elected for a summary trial at the Magistrate’s Court.

He is charged with possession of 11,311 grams of cannabis; a quantity found in a barrel on the port and another quantity of 88 grams found at his residence during a search by the police.

Bail was set at $40,000.00 with his mother, Maria Riviere, as surety. At the request of the prosecution, as part of his bail conditions, he is to report to the Roseau Police Station every Wednesday between 7 am and 7 pm for signing.

The matter was adjourned to October 5, 2026 for case management. He was represented by lawyer Gina Abraham Thomas.
