Several young cricketers from a wide cross-section of the island will be given the opportunity to impress selectors and state a claim for a spot on the senior national team.
After several weeks without competitive cricket due to the COVID-19 pandemic, players will converge on the Windsor Park Sports Stadium this Saturday and Sunday when the Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) hosts two trial matches.
The matches, which will be of 50 overs duration per side, will also feature a number of cricketers with first-class experience, including two former Windward Islands captain namely, Tyron Theophile and Liam Sebastien.
For the first encounter on Saturday, Team A will be lead by West Indies Test hopeful Kavem Hodge. The all-rounder will team up with the likes of Jerlani Robinson and Kervin James who have also represented the Windward Islands on the regional circuit. Promising cricketer Stephan Pascal is also in the lineup.
Tyron Theophile will take charge of Team B. Also included in the team are Liam Sebastien and Alick Athanaze among others.
Both matches are expected to bowl off from 10 am. However, players are asked to report to the Ground Authority by 9:00 am. The DCA has announced that all COVID -19 protocols will be strictly adhered to.

Team B: Tyron Theophile (C), Kyle Cabey, Odiamar Honore, Alick Athanaze, Liam Sebastien, Malakia Xavier, Trevor Mason, Vincent Lewis, Jedd Joseph, Delaney Alexander, Lee Louisy, Morrel Burton, Savio Anselm, Gian Benjamin and Yawani Registe.
Following the trial matches, a team will be selected to represent the island at the Windward Islands Cricket Tournament. A date and venue for the tournament have not yet been decided.
The national selectors are Morvan John, Martin Matthew and Pellam Jno Baptiste.
