Dublanc FC wins local derby

Former champions and league leaders Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC has opened up a four points lead over second-placed club Happi Bath Estate FC in the 2021 Dominica Football Association Premier Division League and 10 points over back to back defending champions Sagicor South East FC. However, the defending champion has two games in hand.

On Sunday at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, Dublanc FC picked up their 11th win of the season when they got the better of LA Enterprises Bombers FC in a local derby. The encounter, which was contested before a large and appreciative crowd say the league leaders take the lead on the stroke of halftime when national midfielder Briel Thomas converted to give his club the one-nil halftime advantage.

The deal was sealed by the player of the game Travist Joseph with a powerful left-footer in the 72nd minute of play. With the win, Dublanc FC moved to 35 points from 13 matches while Bombers remains on 18 points from 13 games played.

At the Stock Farm Complex on Sunday, Happi Bath Estate FC defeated Valvoline WE United FC by two goals to nil to move to 31 points from 13 matches. Marcellus Bonney scored for Bath Estate FC while the other goal came courtesy of the own goal route. Duvaughn St. Ange was named as the player of the game. WE United FC remains in 7th position with 13 points from 12 matches played.

On Saturday, Middle Ham United FC collected three vital points when they defeated Connect 767 East Central FC by two goals to one at the Stock Farm Complex. Kimon Jno Baptiste and Mosiah Bonney scored one goal each for the winners. Enoch Phillip scored the lone goal for East Central FC. Shakeem Gregoire was named as the player of the game. With the win, Middle Ham United FC occupies the 6th position with 14 points from 12 matches. East Central FC is on 7 points from 13 matches and sits at number nine on the points standing.

On Friday at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth Promex Harlem United and LA Starz FC played to a goalless draw.  Harlem United sits on 16 points from 13 games while LA Starz FC remains at the bottom of the table with 5 points from 13 games played.

The scheduled encounter between two-time defending champions Sagicor South East FC and Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC was postponed. The defending champion is in 3rd position with 25 points from 11 matches while Pointe Michel FC is in 8th position with 12 points from 11 matches played.

In the Division One League on Sunday at the Almond Park in Dublanc, LA Starz FC and Itassi United FC played to a two-all draw. Sherlon Prince scored both goals for Itassi United FC while LA Starz FC got one goal each from Kimani Rodney and Jequan Thomas.

Meanwhile, Kalinago Warriors made a winning start to the under 15 competition with an impressive four goals to one win on Saturday over the Marigot United. The encounter which took place at the Stock Farm Complex saw Terrance Winston netting two goals. There was one goal each for Kenneth Valmond and Earshine Fontain. Jalen Dorsette scored the lone goal for Marigot United.
