APP not contesting Grand Bay’s By-Election

The Executive and members of the Alternative Peoples` Party (APP) have issued a statement stating that they will not be contesting the Grand Bay By-Election to be held on November 25, 2021.

According to President of the party Julius Corbette, “the party`s focus at the moment is on institutional building and putting mechanisms in place for the next general election. During this time, we are closely assessing the development needs of our people and advocating for alleviation of their plight.”

“We are also gravely concerned about the long outstanding issue of comprehensive electoral reform and add our voice to the call for urgent attention to be given to this, more so in keeping with the first 100 days promise of the Prime Minister,” Corbette stated in his statement.

“Accordingly, we regret that we will not be contesting the Grand Bay by-election. However, the people of Grand Bay can rest assured that we are in solidarity with their cry for better and effective representation and look forward to providing this at the next opportunity.”
