With great sadness, we announce the death of Dr. Carissa Faustina Etienne, PAHO Director Emeritus.
Dr. Etienne was from the village of Massacre and resided in the United States of America (Maryland). She served as Director of PAHO from February 2013 to January 2023. She passed away on December 1st, 2023, at the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland.
She leaves to mourn her:

Mother: Bertilia Birmingham.
Grandchildren: Tahjanea, Grace, and Lilly-Ann Gregoire.

Viewing of the body of the late Dr. Carissa Faustina Etienne will take place at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Newtown on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. The Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm.
The Official Funeral Service for Dr. Carissa Faustina Etienne will be streamed Live via GIS, DBS Radio, and Government of Dominica social media.
