The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) awarded 3 student-athletes the inaugural DAA
Athletic Legacy Scholarship. The athletes officially received their scholarships during an official signing and distribution ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) Conference Room.
This marks the first time the DAA is offering this scholarship, which is aimed at supporting young Dominican athletes who demonstrate athletic dedication, academic promise, and financial need.
Three deserving student-athletes received EC $1,000 each to assist with educational expenses, including tuition, books, uniforms, and supplies. The recipients were:
Da’Jeannic Didier-Wesmar Rangers Athletics Club
Niola Alleyne-Striderz Athletics Club
Keyoni Esprit-Pioneers Athletics Club
The Dominica Athletic Legacy Scholarship is funded by past and present national athletes who have come together to invest in the future of youth and sport in Dominica.
These sponsors will also serve as mentors to the recipients. Their contribution is a testament to the strength and unity of the Dominican athletic community and its commitment to giving back.
The DAA envisions this initiative as an annual scholarship program. Other national athletes are encouraged to contribute towards this initiative, ensuring that future generations of student-athletes continue to receive the support they need to thrive both on and off the field.
