NCCU reopens Grand Fond Branch

Members of the National Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (NCCU) in Grand Fond can once again access the full, wide range of products and services offered by the NCCU in that community.

The building was damaged in 2017 by Hurricane Maria, a mere two months after officially becoming part of the NCCU “One Big Family”.

On Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 after almost a four (4) year closure, the sub-office re-opened its doors to the public albeit for one (1) day a week basis in the first instance.

Following a blessing over the ceremony, those present and a prayer of safety and no ill-will over the employees and office building by Pastor of the Grand Fond Radiant Life Fellowship, Rev. Jules Pascal, Treasurer of the NCCU Board of Directors Euan James welcomed all those present at the ceremony and invited everyone to “take advantage of the products and services which are now available to them in a much closer location.”

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NCCU Aylmer A. Irish marked the reopening as one which brings the institution great joy as the members of the area had been inquiring and requesting that services be made available again. “We look forward to you the members engaging with us to best determine the hours of operation for the office so whilst one day is little, based on the amount of time the community has been without the services of the Credit Union, we thought it best to open,” Irish stated.

Gretta Roberts the Parliamentary Representative for the area commended the NCCU for keeping its word and reopening the office and encouraged members to make use of the opportunity now available of the products and services and cited that an increase in traffic would in fact lead to an increase in business hours and even employment opportunities.
