Inter Caribbean Flight 713 has reported an emergency and returned to Dominica after encountering an apparent engine failure shortly after takeoff from Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica.
The flight, bound for Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, departed at 1:13 pm. According to a passenger onboard, the plane experienced engine trouble soon after takeoff, prompting the pilot to turn the aircraft around and return to Douglas-Charles.
Flight tracking data shows the plane making several loops just east of Dominica before returning to the airport. The nature and extent of the problem is still unclear, and the airline or aviation authorities have not officially confirmed the report of engine failure.
Barbados TODAY understands the plane has safely landed at Douglas-Charles Airport and passengers have been evacuated from the aircraft.
