High Court Judge Colin Williams has denied the State’s request to have the bail of double murder accused Jonathan Lehrer revoked and in an unprecedented move has awarded costs of EC$7,500.00 against the State in the matter.
Justice Williams had granted bail to Lehrer of One Million EC dollars with proper surety and among some of the conditions was he must revoke his US citizenship.
The decision to grant him bail caused a public outcry with Minister of National Security Rayburn Blackmoore expressing his “disappointment ” at the decision.
The State sighting fresh information went to court to have the bail revoked last week before Justice Williams.
Meantime, Nature Isle News (NIN) was informed by sources close to the court that Lehrer is expected to be brought down to the office of the registrar where he will be signing documents and be released on bail later today.
