Popular women’s advocate Nurse Rosie Felix is now in police custody after she surrendered through her lawyer Joshua Francis early today.
The police have been on a rampage since the March 19, 2025 protest action, arresting persons who were part of the public demonstration where they clashed with the protestors who hailed stones and bottles at them.
Video footage circulating on social media also showed police officers pelting stones and other materials at the protesters.
The police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets to quell the protestors as Parliament debated the House of Assembly Electoral Reform Bill.
That Bill was passed unanimously in the Dominica Parliament with all those present voting in favour.
Last week, the police arrested four people, including former Salisbury MP Hector John, who is now on $30,000.00 bail. Two other former legislators have since been arrested: Daniel “Danny” Lugay and Johnson Boston, the Chairman of the Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC), the group responsible for organizing the protest action that the police deemed “illegal.”
Also arrested is popular blogger Siri Defoe.
