BREAKING NEWS-Prison Officer Michael Peters arrested and makes first court appearance

Prison Officer Michael Peters has pleaded “not guilty” to a charge of giving a prisoner at the Dominica State Prison prohibited articles without the authority of the Superintendent of Prisons.

Peters appeared in court on Monday, June 16, 2025, before Senior Magistrate Michael Laudat, where the charge was read to him.

According to court documents obtained by Nature Isle News (NIN), on June 12, 2025, Michael Peters, being a prison officer at the Dominica State’s Prison did convey to Alexis Roberts also known as Michael Magloire ( a prisoner) within the walls of the said prison certain prohibited articles not expressly allowed by the regulations of the prison to be in possession of the said prison namely one blue TCL cell phone, one black Joway power bank, one white and grey Leemoa power bank and one pair black handle scissors without the authority of the Superintendent of Prisons.

The prosecution did not object to bail, and the magistrate set bail at EC$5,000.00 with one surety.

Bail conditions

  • As part of his bail conditions, Michael Peters must surrender to the jurisdiction of the court on Tuesday, 23 September 2025 at 9 am and any other dates set by the court to answer to the said charge and not to depart from the court without leave.
  • Surrender all travel documents to the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 17 June at 9 am
  • Prohibited from leaving the State without obtaining permission from the Court 72 hours before
  • Report to the Roseau Police Station every Monday between 7 am and 7 pm

Any breach of any of those conditions will have his bail revoked.
