Villagers from the community of Pointe Michel are expressing concerns over the number of burglaries in that community.
Over the past week, burglaries have been in the Bridon, Sibolie, Lourt Bourd, Green Valley, and other areas.
One lady reported her gold chain and earrings stolen from her home, a nurse’s home was burglarized, and a staff of the Dominica Air & Seaport Authorities (DASPA) who resides in the community was awakened at 2 am and saw a young man in her house, he made good his escape with her working bag and documents.
A shopkeeper in the Sibolie area also reported that her place was burglarized and several items stolen. “I heard the noise but since I was alone at home I was afraid to go and see for fear of being attacked, ” she said.
She reported that several grocery items and cash were stolen. The Bar of Marshen was also burglarized a few weeks ago with drinks stolen, while a public servant was awakened in the early hours of the morning (November 16, 2023) and someone in her house.
An English couple who resides in Poree described how the intruder cut the wire mesh to her window climbed on the water line ( that burst) and attempted to enter her house.
“This is scary, what is going on in the community, where is the police patrol, we are living in fear now,” the English couple stated.
Persons in the community are asking each other to secure there house and report any suspicious activities to each other and the police.
