Former government minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux has been arrested and slapped with two charges under the Firearms Act of Dominica.
Dr. Darroux is reported to have ordered “gun accessories” without first obtaining a license as is required under the Firearms Act of Dominica.
Dr. Darroux in an unmarked police vehicle arrived in court after 4:30 pm on January 23, 2024, to answer his charges.

He is represented by lawyers Lennox Lawrence and Jodi Luke and the State was represented by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple.
However, as the media waited for the charges to be read to him, he along with his lawyers, the arresting officer, the clerk of court, and the DPP were all summoned to the chambers of the presiding Magistrate Michael Laudat.
Five minutes later, we (the media) were instructed that the matter was dealt with and we had to leave the court.
Our investigations revealed that the Magistrate said he was unprepared to hear the facts and granted bail to Dr. Darroux in (Chambers) for EC$30,000.00 to return to court on January 24, 2024, where the two charges will be read to him.
Dr. Darroux last held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Roosevelt Skerrit government until the December 2022 general elections.
Under the Firearm Act of Dominica, if found guilty, Dr. Darroux could be fined EC$15,000.00 and be sent to prison for ten years.
Honestly I would give Darroux the benefits of the doubt. To my mine he believed as he has a licensed fire arm that is was ok to order. What he should have done was to enquire for the Fire arms officers and they would have guided him. His ordering of the product was genuine. He did not insert a false name nor product from the importer from abroad. We have to give and take. The big question is I hope dd doesnt believe as he has a firearm license that he can purchase 12 firearms with that same license. Its wrong my boy. It seems to me u you guys are preparing for a war in Dca. Becareful what you all asked for. The younger people are listening. War is war so im warning allu man with all these guns in the place
