Jeffery James appointed acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)

A new guard has taken over as the acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) since the holder of the post Davidson Valerie is now the acting Chief of Police.

Jeffery “JJ” James is regarded as a well-rounded disciplined police officer with a strong background in investigation and crime solving and is now the new ACP.

JJ as he is fondly known has worked in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for many years, in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as a police prosecutor, and also in the Portsmouth district among others.

A graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Criminology, JJ has training in aspects of policing globally attending many courses and training regionally and internationally, and has long been heralded as “a mentor, a leader, and an inspiration to others in the service.”

He was recently confirmed to the post of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and has also acted as Superintendent of Police and was highly commended for his result-oriented approach, community policing, and inclusion.

Asked to comment on his recent appointment, JJ is known for quoting his scripture and said he is “thankful that the powers that be have given him the opportunity to serve and will do so with the help and guidance of God.”

He also thanked many for their congratulatory messages from all ranks and files within the police force and vows to continue to be “humble, a mentor and serve with respect, honesty, and discipline.”
