National cricketer fighting for his life after bike accident

Family and friends are praying for a speedy and full recovery for prominent local cricketer Tyrone Theophile.  Theophile is currently a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) following a Christmas Day accident.

Reports reaching Nature Isle News (NIN) indicate that Theophille was involved in a motorcycle accident in the vicinity of the Roseau Post Office in the capital city Roseau and was rushed to the PMH. This publication has further learnt that he is in a patient at the Intensive Care Unit( ICU) fighting for his life.

The 31 year old, who hails from the southern community of Pointe Michel, has been one of the island’s top cricketers over the last decade.

Theophile, who captained the Windward Islands Volcanoes team for a few seasons at the regional level, has played a total of 68 first-class matches and has scored 3,055 runs at an average of 25.88.

The top order batsman has also taken 18 wickets at 34 runs apiece with his off spin.

Reports are that he received serious head injuries as a result of the accident and efforts are being made to have him airlifted urgently to the nearby French territory of Martinique. The general public is being asked to lift him up in prayers during this difficult time for him and his family.

Theophille is a member of the coaching staff of the Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC, where he serves in the capacity of fitness coach.
