La Plaine resident 27-year-old Scott Hazel appeared before Magistrate Hansel Valerie on October 9, 2023, to answer to a charge of murder.
The police had put out a “wanted bulletin for murder” of Hazel after the double homicide at the Garage Bar & Grill that claimed the lives of Jeremy Tyler Simeon aged 33 of La Plaine and Tyrone Mitchel on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Hazel is charged with the murder of Jeremy Tyler Simeon.
He is represented by lawyer Julian Prevost in the matter and was not required to enter a plea since murder is an indictable offense and must be tried by a Judge and jury at the High Court.
The commencement of the preliminary inquiry into the matter is set for March 1, 2024, and disclosure was ordered on January 31, 2024. In the meantime, Hazel will be on remand at the Stock Farm Prison.
His lawyer has said that he intends to petition the High Court for a bail application on behalf of his client.
