Taxi driver slapped with charge of murdering another taxi driver

The police have slapped a charge of “murder” on taxi driver Kelvin Trevor Albert also known as “Lang Sal” who they alleged to have murdered another taxi driver 69-year-old Andrew George Pinard between March 1-9, 2025.

Albert, a 43-year-old driver appeared in court where the charge of murder was read to him before Magistrate Pearl Williams. He was not required to enter a plea since murder is an indictable offense to be tried by a Judge and Jury at the High Court.

Outside the court, a number of taxi operators assembled in solidarity with Albert who they claim was “a very good man.”

Reports are that Albert and Pinard got into a confrontation and a physical fight over US$20.00 after Pinard who he had engaged in doing a tour returned short with the funds.

Pinard died eight (8) days later at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) because of injuries he sustained over the fight with Albert.

Albert is represented by the law firm of Dyer & Dyer. The matter has been adjourned to July 4, 2025, and Albert has been remanded at the Dominica State Prison pending the preliminary inquiry into the matter.
