Former Marketing Manager at Digicel Dominica Marva Williams is the new CEO at Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).
Williams who previously worked at DDA as Festival and Events Manager left that post in 2022 to take up a post at Digicel.
She attained a Master of International Business degree from Georgia State University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Florida International University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. She is certified in Sales and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Regional Branding and Marketing, Data Literacy, and Human Subjects Research.
She has represented Dominica overseas, for the promotion of signature events. Marva is a cultural enthusiast – in 2007, she was awarded by the National Youth Council for developing culture and heritage in Dominica. She has functioned as a member of the Dominica Independence committee, assisting in the development of the Independence calendar annually.
Regarded as a “task-driven professional with over 12 years, of experience in event planning, project management, and departmental management”. Williams is adept at leveraging superior interpersonal and communicative skills to interact with diverse individuals both internal and external to an organization.
Over the years, Williams has successfully refined her skills in project management, event planning, public speaking, content creation, relationship management, and team building. Her successes include the implementation of signature events like the World Creole Music Festival, which realized an approximately 100% growth rate in attendance for the 2019 edition, and reconceptualizing the Jazz ‘n Creole product offering features.
She has been instrumental in developing Dominica’s Carnival by redefining key marketing concepts, and through the creative production of the Miss Dominica Pageant and street parades. Under her portfolio, she also introduced a new, well-perceived event – SunRise, on Carnival Friday.
Hmm! Big shoes to fill. I have major doubts about this choice.
