The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) has described the late Julius Timothy, who passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, as “a public servant who has given himself to the service of the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica for many years in the area of business, politics, and governance.”
According to a release from the DFP, Timothy owned and was the Managing Director of AC Shillingford and Company Limited, one of the outstanding businesses in Roseau.
“He served as Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau North Constituency from 1995 to 2014. Minister of Finance, Industry and Planning in the United Workers Party (UWP) led administration from 1995 to 2000. He joined the Dominica Labour Party in 2005 and was appointed as a Minister of government in the Roosevelt Skerrit-led administration until 2014.”
“He also served as President of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) and on several statutory boards and committees, including the Credit Union Movement in Dominica. He was an avid sportsman and contributed immensely to the development of sports on the island,” the release stated.
“The Dominica Freedom Party extends condolences to his family, friends, staff of ACS, the people of the Roseau North Constituency, and the people of Dominica as a whole. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
