The Government of Dominica is saddened by the passing of His Eminence Cardinal Kelvin Felix, Archbishop Emeritus of Castries, St Lucia.
Cardinal Felix was a Dominican cleric of exceptional standing who entered the priesthood in 1956 and was consecrated Archbishop in 1981. He was President of the Antilles Episcopal Conference and the Caribbean Conference of Churches and was proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2014.
Cardinal Felix, the first Catholic priest to be ordained in Dominica, was the recipient of our country’s highest honour, the Dominica Award of Honour in 1999.
As we mourn his passing, we remember his invaluable service to the Church and the faithful.
